Which length does my rifle case need?
What matters is the overall length of the rifle – not the barrel length. How to measure:
- Unload the rifle and lay it on a flat floor.
- Measure from the end of the butt plate to the muzzle. If a suppressor or muzzle brake is fitted, measure to its end.
- Note the value and round up to the next full centimetre.
- Choose the size: up to 115 cm choose 105–115 cm, from 115 to 125 cm choose 115–125 cm. Longer: write to us.
A suppressor often adds 15 to 20 cm – so always measure the rifle as you actually use it. The size guide on the home page calculates the recommendation for you.
Neoprene, hard case or fabric?
| Neoprene case | Hard case | Fabric case (padded) | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Weight & bulk | very light, foldable | heavy, bulky | medium |
| Noise | very quiet | loud on contact | audible zip |
| Impact protection | basic | very high | medium |
| Moisture protection | water-repellent | high (closed) | depends on material |
| Access | instant (open design) | slow | zip |
| Ideal for | stalking, high seat, moving in the field | air travel, shipping, long drives | all-round in the vehicle |
Our recommendation: for air travel and shipping a rifle, a lockable hard case is the right choice. For the hunt itself – quiet, light, quick – neoprene is superior. Many hunters use both.
Caring for neoprene
- After use, knock off dirt and rinse with clear, lukewarm water.
- Let it air dry – not on a radiator, not in direct sun.
- Never store the rifle in a wet case: let rifle and case dry first.
- For longer periods, store dark and dry; UV light and heat make neoprene brittle over time.
Transport and storage
A case protects the rifle from external influences. It replaces neither a gun safe nor the requirements that weapons law sets for storage and transport. Please check the rules that apply to you – we do not provide legal advice.
